Kilcona Park is located north east of the intersection of Lagimodiere Blvd. and Springfield Road. The parking lot for the off-leash area is accessed off McIvor Avenue.

Kilcona is one of the largest parks in Winnipeg at 440 acres. The official off-leash area is north of the gravel road crossing the hill and is almost one hundred acres in size. There are more than ten kilometers of trails to walk at the park. These trails extend beyond the off-leash area, but we have been allowed to use the other areas off-leash so long as we do not let our dogs bother other park users. This means we have over two hundred acres to walk our dogs.

It is our responsibility to keep the park clean. This means picking up after our dogs and not dropping litter (eg: coffee cups) around the park. Kilcona is a beautiful park. Let’s keep it that way.

There have been many improvements to the park over the last four years:

· we now have lights in the parking lot.

· A bulletin board was put up.

· A large map of the park was erected.

· A clean bag bin and lost and found box were donated.

· Picnic tables and benches are put out in the summer.

· The trails are plowed regularly all winter.

· New litter baskets and bag dispensers have been put out.

· The litter baskets are emptied regularly.

· A yard fireplace has been donated and set up.

· New trails added to the top of the hill.

There are plans for several future improvements:

· a permanent fire pit.

· More hill top trails.

· A gazebo or pavilion on the off-leash side of the park, similar to the picnic shelter.

· A bridge crossing the north channel where the road crosses the east channel.

· A dog memorial area/wall.
